What’s new in the UK for Weddings!!
Posted on 28 May 2012
Vintage, vintage and more vintage is the only thing I can really say about the UK in general this spring… 1940’s and 1950’s is everywhere you look from your local high street store to ‘Liberty’s on Oxford street and of course at this years 2012 UK National Wedding Show which we at An English Rose attended this past February in London!
So let me start with the wedding dresses…. There were two strong styles which really stood out to us, firstly the very vintage sweetheart neckline with the mermaid body shape covered in lace and touches of diamantes’ and then secondly which surprised me was were very glamorous 1920’s Hollywood style dresses in very soft shimmering silks with low hanging draped backs which we all know is a ‘Pipa Middleton’ touch, with feathered accessories whether in the brides hair or shoulder wrap and even touches on the dress. Ladies, I have to also tell you there was hardly a ‘meringue’ in sight!
So for those extra special ‘wow’s we know everyone is looking to have at their wedding here are three of our favourites:
Remember the old VW Camper Vans… well one lady has again taken the 1950’s trend and turned this beautiful vehicle into a travelling ‘Candy Camper’ filled with a mini ‘sweet shop’ and hostess to match!
Having a barn wedding or country house wedding and never enough rooms to host your guests – this was one thing (being romantic’s) we fell in love with, a company has creatively come up with individual ‘luxury’ tents which can be installed on your property, with full futon beds, draping, roses and even a bottle of your favourite ‘Moet’ to set the mood. Now imagine 6 of these on your property for your guests to return to at the end of the night all around a campfire talking about your amazing wedding until the early hours of the morning!
Yes we all love Chocolate & Candies… Macaroons and Cup Cakes and are still looking for fun ways to incorporate all of these into our weddings and we were certainly drawn to one booth which stood out incredibly by all their amazing Chocolate and Candy Centre pieces. These were not some simple display but masterpieces that would certainly get any guest table talking and making friends instantly… and for those brides crazy about Chocolate and Candy, she can even make your bridal bouquet to match and maybe eaten in private on your
wedding night!
Our flashback to the 40’s and 50’s continued long throughout the day with crystal floral centre pieces to amazing wedding cakes, old fashioned ice cream carts, beautiful creative table plans and so much more to tell you, but we are just running out of space!
