I first met the groom 4 years prior when planning his sisters’ wedding so was really honoured that he chose me along with his lovely bride to be Nathalie to plan their special day.
I started working with the couple a year before the big day and it was clear from day one that Nathalie wanted a magical fairy tale wedding which we set out to achieve for her and their 250 wedding guests!
We selected the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the arts & festival district of Montreal which had a beautiful roof top terrace with trees and a water feature and despite the downpour of rain just 30 minutes prior to the ceremony, we mopped up & wiped up, the sun came out and the ceremony took place in the beautiful outdoors where the couple were surrounded by a stunning floral arch made with birch trees.
Now this was no ordinary ceremony, Bagpipes welcomed the guests and the father of the groom officiated the ceremony as well as the grooms niece and nephew coming down the aisle in a motorized jeep with a very cute sign say “Uncle Evan – here comes your Bride”… I must say for a 3 year old he had better driving skills than most Montreal drivers! We also had a ‘drone’ capturing the ariel shots which was a first for me!
The seating card table was magnificent with the greens and coral colours the bride had chosen to decorate the entrance centre piece. Guest then enjoyed a cocktail hour with photo booth before being escorted to dinner by a “Piper”.
The reception room was decorated with white linens and napkins, glass charger plates and tall & short coral centre pieces surrounded by both floating candles and smaller votives, we also added draping behind the table of honor and a white dance floor. In the corner was a lovely memorial to Evan’s mother with a picture, message and bouquet of flowers resting on a rocking chair.
The speeches were a lot of fun with a ‘double’ act from the groomsmen, but the piece de la resistance was the groom’s speech which finished off with a toast of Sambuca to get the party started… and they partied all night to the sound of DJ Yossi Ohana who we love!
